Position Title: E-commerce Webmaster & WordPress/WooCommerce Developer (Full-Stack Performance & Checkout Architecture)
This is an autonomous remote position requiring reliable alignment with core US business hours:
You will operate as the primary technical guardian of our digital storefront, reporting directly to the Head of E-commerce. You will collaborate daily with our Media Buyer, SEO Specialist, and UI Designers, translating commercial initiatives and marketing sprints into clean, robust codebase implementations while maintaining complete autonomy over code deployments, database hygiene, and server configurations.
Rather than merely installing third-party plugins or editing basic visual templates, you will approach site development as a disciplined software engineering and revenue-optimization practice across several critical technical domains:
You will maintain relentless focus on site speed, mobile responsiveness, and page weight optimization across our entire storefront. You will continually audit and optimize Google Core Web Vitals metrics—specifically Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), Interaction to Next Paint (INP), and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS)—on high-traffic product pages and promotional landers. You will implement advanced caching architectures, database query profiling, script deferrals, critical CSS generation, and CDN asset delivery (Cloudflare Enterprise/Edge workers) to guarantee sub-second page loads across North American networks.
You will engineer lean, bespoke functionality directly into our WooCommerce framework, eliminating bloated plugin dependencies wherever custom code provides a faster, cleaner solution. You will streamline the checkout funnel, developing distraction-free one-page checkouts, dynamic upsells, sticky add-to-cart drawers, and responsive bundle selectors. Every line of PHP, JavaScript, and CSS you write will be built with mobile-first usability in mind, ensuring customers browsing from phones or tablets enjoy fluid micro-interactions and instant validation feedback.
Securing commercial transactions and insulating our storefront against fraudulent card testing is paramount. You will oversee secure integrations with major e-commerce payment processors (Stripe, PayPal, Authorize.Net, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Affirm/Klarna installment services). You will implement rigorous anti-fraud screening rules (reCAPTCHA v3, Cloudflare Turnstile, address verification rules, and automated rate limiting), safeguard user data under PCI-DSS compliance standards, conduct regular vulnerability scans, and maintain automated off-site backup snapshots.
Accurate attribution is the foundation of our paid acquisition efficiency. Working hand-in-hand with our Media Buyer and Analytics Specialist, you will architect and maintain our tracking infrastructure. This includes configuring and debugging Google Tag Manager (GTM) containers, implementing server-side tracking containers (such as Stape or AWS Cloud Run), configuring Meta Conversions API (CAPI) events, TikTok Pixel integrations, and Google Analytics 4 enhanced e-commerce triggers to ensure reliable purchase reporting despite ad blockers and iOS privacy barriers.
You will oversee web hosting environments (LiteSpeed/Nginx stacks, VPS/Cloud instances, staging environments), managing PHP runtime versions, MariaDB/MySQL indexes, and SSL/TLS certificates. You will establish a disciplined staging-to-production deployment pipeline, conducting thorough regression testing before pushing theme changes or core updates live. When unexpected technical glitches, hosting slowdowns, or plugin conflicts emerge, you will react swiftly with decisive troubleshooting and clear root-cause incident documentation.
We are seeking a seasoned full-stack WordPress developer who pairs rigorous backend coding standards with a sharp appreciation for frontend e-commerce user experience.
Candidates must possess at least 4 years of hands-on WordPress and WooCommerce development experience, specifically supporting direct-to-consumer e-commerce storefronts targeting North American consumers. You must be able to demonstrate a digital portfolio of live, high-traffic commercial websites where you contributed custom theme templates, custom checkout modifications, and complex hooks/filter integrations without relying excessively on off-the-shelf page builders.
You must possess deep mastery of core web technologies: object-oriented PHP 8+, modern JavaScript (vanilla ES6+, asynchronous requests, DOM manipulation), HTML5 semantics, and modern CSS/Sass (flexbox, CSS grid, tailwind/utility styling). You are intimately familiar with WooCommerce core hooks, actions, filters, REST API endpoints, and template hierarchy. You know how to profile slow database queries using tools like Query Monitor, optimize wp_options and transient bloat, and write secure, sanitized database queries using $wpdb.
You should have practical system-administration familiarity with Linux environments, SSH command line navigation, WP-CLI commands, Git version control workflows, DNS record configurations (A, CNAME, MX, SPF, DKIM), and Cloudflare DNS/WAF rule sets. You take pride in writing well-commented, modular code, keeping plugin counts low, and approaching technical bugs with logical root-cause deduction rather than random guesswork.
To ensure dependable system monitoring, code deployment, and high-bandwidth asset management:
Hardware & Workstation: A modern, reliable desktop or laptop running Windows 10/11, macOS, or Linux equipped with at least 16 GB of RAM, capable of running local staging servers (LocalWP, Docker, or DDEV), multiple IDEs (VS Code/PhpStorm), and heavy browser inspector sessions simultaneously.
Internet Connection: A secure, high-speed internet connection with at least 50 Mbps download and 15 Mbps upload to handle rapid git pulls, database syncing, and video team calls.
Development Environment: Active familiarity with modern IDEs, Postman/REST client testing, and browser developer consoles.
