Senior Full Stack Developer

At commercetools, we're seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer to join our team in London. This hybrid role involves working closely with Product Management to understand business needs and find appropriate technical solutions. You will design, own and operate scalable, secure payment systems that handle financial transactions efficiently in a multi-tenant Cloud/SaaS environment. Key responsibilities include leading architecture reviews, designing and implementing in-store payment and payment device interactions (credit/debit, gift cards, digital wallets), contributing to team roadmap definition, leading end-to-end design and delivery of solutions, defining and driving platform patterns and CI/CD improvements, ensuring technical excellence across teams, and meeting functional and non-functional requirements. You'll participate in on-call rotation for production systems.

Required qualifications: Proven experience as a TypeScript backend engineer building and operating large-scale production systems, including designing CI/CD pipelines and integrating observability tooling. Solid understanding of parallel and asynchronous programming and non-blocking I/O. Grasp of distributed systems fundamentals including consistency models and replication. Experience developing REST APIs and knowledge of scalable architectures. Knowledge of document databases (MongoDB) and API interaction tools (Postman or similar). Hands-on experience building frontend applications using modern frameworks (React, NextJs) with ability to deliver end-to-end features. Fluent written and verbal English for international teams. Aspiration to constantly improve and learn new technologies. Understanding of Agile methodologies and sprint participation. Ability to work in a hybrid environment. AI Aptitude with genuine curiosity for using AI tools.
